Gifted 101

What is gifted?  How is it defined?  Who are the gifted?  What are their needs?  Why should we care?

The term “gifted and talented”, when used with respect to students, children, or youth, means students, children, or youth who give evidence of high achievement capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities. (Title IX, Part A, Section 9101(22), p. 544)

With that being said, I look foward to being your teacher this school year. I believe that we can work together to reach your ultimate level of achievement. This year we will be reading novels, performing plays, using technology in the classroom, using hands on activities and real world experiences to learn through the curriculum, and so much more.

Being gifted does not mean more work and more homework. Learing should be fun.

I look foward to a fun filled year of learning.
